LOCATION
The island of Kihavah, a mesmerising 35-minute seaplane ride north of Malé within the Baa Atoll, is truly a paradise, ringed by the whitest of powdery sands and beyond that crystal-clear turquoise waters that are a playground for a rainbow-like collection of tropical fish. Its remote location means endless horizon views and the starriest of night skies that are best experienced atop the resort's Sky Bar, which is also home to the Maldives' largest telescope.
ACCOMMODATION
The 80 villas and residences come in a variety of shapes and sizes. For seclusion, the Beach Pool villas are protected by the island's lush greenery, while the Overwater villas hover above the crystal-clear waters with views that look out onto an endless horizon. All of them, though, are kitted out to the highest of specs, each with their own private pools, sundecks with day swings, Wi-Fi access, coffee- and tea-making facilities, fully stocked minibar, a pillow menu and outdoor showers, while some come with outdoor hot tubs and hammocks.
FACILITIES
Facilities such as an overwater spa and a choice of six excellent restaurants and bars are almost expected, but all facilities here are truly world class. While it is tempting to spend your days wallowing on your private deck, if you can tear yourself away from your villa, the water sports centre provides the equipment for an array of activities including snorkelling around the house reef with a marine biologist, kayaking and windsurfing. For the less active, there is a sunset cruise, underwater wine tasting.
